Cycles Gladiator Wines Participate In Cycling
(SOLEDAD,
Calif.) – Monterey County winery Cycles Gladiator, owned
by Hahn Estates, produces wines that feature an image
from an antique cycling poster. Bicycling enthusiasts across the
nation are discovering the wine brand, and this year Cycles
Gladiator is on course to participate with professional
cyclists, enthusiasts and fans in cycling events from California
to New York.
From February
18 - 25, 2007 Cycles Gladiator is participating in the
eight-day, 650-mile AMGEN Tour of California by going on
the road with America’s best and most important cycling road
race and participating at the AMGEN Tour Lifestyle Festival at
every stop of the race. Beginning in San Francisco and
culminating in Long Beach, California, the AMGEN Tour of
California is the largest professional cycling race in the
United States with an expected record-setting attendance of more
than one million spectators. In addition, certain elements of
the race event and Lifestyle Festivals are dedicated to raising
cancer awareness. The Tour of California will be broadcast on
the Versus Network (formerly the Outdoor Life Network) which
also covers the Tour de France.
The 17th
annual Sea Otter Classic cycling event set for April 12 -
15, 2007 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area in Monterey,
California. Cycles Gladiator is the Official Winery Sponsor
of the Sea Otter Classic which has become the largest, most
celebrated cycling festival in North America and known
throughout the cycling world as the cycling racing season’s
kick-off event. In addition, Cycles Gladiator Winemaker Paul
Clifton is a participating athlete in this event. The Sea
Otter Classic takes place right in the winery’s own backyard
drawing nearly 10,000 professional, amateur, beginner, and
recreational athletes, 50,000 spectators and more than 250 media
representatives from across the globe. Later this year, Cycles
Gladiator will participate in a cycling-themed event in New York
City.
More than one
hundred years ago, Gladiator was one of the dozens of bicycle
companies that saturated the market when the cycling craze
boomed in Europe in the late 1800s. The golden age of cycling
reached its pinnacle in 1895—and that same year one of the great
Parisian art posters advertising the famous Cycles Gladiator
bicycle was created. Only four of these original posters exist
today.
The famed
artwork that once showcased the stylish bicycle now graces the
bottles of the classic Cycles Gladiator wines from
California’s Central Coast. The mythological image of the nymph
riding her winged bicycle captures the grace and uninhibited
beauty of the winery’s hillside vineyards which produce the
grapes that are used to make award-winning Cycles Gladiator
Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir
and Syrah wines.
