Sandi first began her twelve years in the wine industry working for the Sonoma County winery that has been in her family for five generations, Martini &
Prati. And, though she had worked on the bottling line while attending high school, her full-time career in wine began when she began working for the winery’s quaint tasting room while taking classes in viticulture,
enology, and marketing. A role as the winery’s hospitality director soon emerged, and Sandi found herself planning events, managing the tasting room and getting involved in local organizations. Her next role, retail marketing director, would introduce her to Wimbledon Wine Company president, Bill Leigon, for whom she has worked since 1998. Under Bill’s direction, Sandi started a 3-winery wine club and built two winery websites, which was, “A tremendous learning experience,” she says.
Her current role in Public Relations and Marketing for Wimbledon is altogether challenging and fun and allows her room to grow and work creatively. Her job utilizes a unique combination of creative, administrative, and social skills. “Working for Wimbledon is great because each one of us has a unique function within the company, which allows us to contribute our individual talents and expertise,” Sandi says. In addition to her role with Wimbledon, Sandi also enjoys active involvement in local organizations. She has served as the President of the Russian River Wine Road, a Sonoma County winery and lodging organization, and has served as a past board member of a local chamber of commerce, and also enjoys involvement in the Russian River Valley Winegrowers association.
Sandi and her husband, Mike, live in Santa Rosa with their
3-year old son Joseph, and their dog - a black Labrador named
Brewski. They enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, playing cribbage and spending time with family and friends. Sandi also loves to cook and use fresh vegetables grown in her own garden.
